Jacob Gannon rejoins Cyclones

College Football, Iowa State Cyclones

Offensive lineman Jacob Gannon has rejoined the Iowa State program 11 days after quitting the team, saying Tuesday he was recently diagnosed with anxiety.

"I am receiving treatment for my condition and I am looking forward to being a part of the football team," Gannon, a junior tackle with 13 career starts, said in a statement. "I want to thank Coach (Paul) Rhoads and my teammates for their support."

Gannon started at right tackle in Iowa State's season-opening loss to North Dakota State, then left the program two days before its Big 12 opener against Kansas State. A former teammate told the Ames Tribune that Gannon quit because he was feeling "burned out."

Redshirt freshman Jake Campos replaced him at right tackle.

"We are glad Jacob is back with the Cyclone football family," Rhoads said in a statement. "We are behind Jacob 100 percent and will continue to support him throughout the process."
