Oklahoma is a legit top-5 team

When the preseason AP Top 25 poll was revealed this August, I was one of the people who was a little skeptical of the Oklahoma Sooners starting the year all the way up at No. 4. I'd seen their very impressive Sugar Bowl win last season over Alabama, but I was wondering if they were being overhyped a little bit based on just one game. I simply wasn't ready to stamp them as a surefire top-five team.

However, after studying their personnel, game tape and having seen them from the sidelines of last week's 52-7 blowout win over Tulsa, I've changed my opinion. I think they are a legitimate top-five team and a contender to reach the first-ever College Football Playoff this winter.

Granted, we haven't yet seen this year's OU team play against a high level of competition. That will take place Saturday night (8 ET, ABC) against the Tennessee Volunteers, and we should know a lot more about just how good the Sooners are after that game is over. But I think what we're going to find
