Konrad Zagzebski out of hospital

College Football, Wisconsin Badgers

HOUSTON -- Wisconsin Badgers senior defensive end Konrad Zagzebski was released from Methodist Hospital and traveled home with the Badgers after their 28-24 loss to LSU on Saturday night at NRG Stadium.

Zagzebski fell to the turf after a first-quarter collision with LSU running back Kenny Hilliard and lay motionless on the field for approximately 10 minutes while medical personnel attended to him. For precautionary reasons, Zagzebski was stabilized and transported to the nearby hospital, accompanied by his father.

ESPN's Todd McShay reported that Zagzebski had movement in his extremities.

Wisconsin officials declined to elaborate further on the nature of the injury during the game. The team's official Twitter account later posted that Zagzebski had been released and would accompany the team home.

As he was taken off the field, the 6-foot-3, 277-pound Zagzebski made a gesture with his right hand, which drew raucous applause from the capacity crowd when shown on the stadium video boards.

Zagzebski, a first-year full-time starter for Wisconsin, played in 13 games last season (three starts) and recorded 19 tackles (two for loss).

Down 17 points in the second half, LSU stormed back with 21 unanswered points to secure the come-from-behind victory.
