Brown showed flashes of dominance last year as a sophomore, with 68 stops, 13 TFLs and five pass breakups, and at 6-foot-4 and 305 pounds he's a scary weapon up the middle against the run and pass. T-86. S Cody Prewitt, Ole Miss Rebels
Score: 6.69
From underrated to All-American, Prewitt led the SEC and tied for seventh nationally with six interceptions last season. He also defended 13 passes and had 4.5 tackles for loss. Prewitt is a ball hawk but is physical enough to play in the box and stop the run. T-86. QB Dak Prescott, Mississippi State Bulldogs

Dan Mullen has the run-pass threat he covets in the 6-2, 235-pound Prescott, who showed his toughness and courage last season while playing through injuries and the death of his mother. Prescott passed for 1,940 yards, rushed for 829 yards and accounted for 23 touchdowns. T-86. DL Chris Jones, Mississippi State Bulldogs

Even though he's 6-5 and 300 pounds, Jones moves more like an end and will slide outside some this season for the Bulldogs. He's that athletic, but will spend most of his time inside, where he's one of the top interior defensive linemen in the SEC. T-86. DE Trey Flowers, Arkansas Razorbacks

One of the top big-play defenders in the SEC, Flowers has 32 tackles for loss in 26 career starts for the Hogs. He's the SEC's returning leader in tackles for loss with 13.5 last season and also forced three fumbles. 85. K Roberto Aguayo, Florida State Seminoles

You have to be sound in the kicking game, and there is not a better kicker than Aguayo. If Florida State finds itself in a close game, Aguayo could be the deciding factor that helps Florida State avoid a loss. T-83. LB Jake Ryan, Michigan Wolverines

After an injury-shortened 2013 season, Ryan could put himself among the Big Ten's elite defenders this fall. Poised for a surge after his sophomore year, when he earned All-Big Ten honors, Ryan has had a tackle for loss in 25 of his past 30 games. T-83. LB Hayes Pullard, USC Trojans

Regarded as USC's defensive leader, he's been tops on the team in tackles for two of the past three seasons. He doesn't get a lot of the premium defensive stats, like TFLs or sacks. But he's a pure run-stopper with some good instincts in the secondary. T-81. WR Christion Jones, Alabama Crimson Tide

Although he had 349 yards and two touchdowns receiving last year, Jones isn't on here as a wide receiver. He's on here as an all-purpose player. Whether it's making tough catches in traffic, running reverses or returning kicks and punts, he can do it all. T-81. QB Trevor Knight, Oklahoma Sooners

There might not have been a better bowl game performance by a quarterback last year than Knight's against Alabama. But will Knight be a one-hit wonder? Or will the sophomore take the Sooners back into championship contention after a five-year hiatus?
