The kid won a Heisman, he is taking online classes so that his "celebrity" doesn't have a negative effect on his student peers and he doesn't want to spend his days on campus signing autographs. maybe if some of you had some success in life instead of being loser than you would understand. As far as infringement on his nickname that is complete $@%!$@%! but its his right. All the other Johnny's didnt win Heismans as Redshirt Freshmans and some of them didnt even win Hesimans period. Please get off this kids NUTS and let him live... The SEC wasnt ready and he shined. BTW ESPN this is a horrible post and story to cover "if you have no revelent news to report than dont report anything"

Elgibility does not really matter, this kid is fast-tracking the NCAA process to get into the show. Just like Scam Newton, except the payday comes to him direct and in the middle or end of the college run rather than up-front.

he could lose his eligibility due to unauthorized Johnny Manziel merchandise....even the HeisManziel merchandise. Johnny Football merchandise, which he does not own a trademark for and has been used long before he was around, could not cause him to lose his eligibility.

Unauthorized merchandises that have student-athletes' nicknames on them have been pulled off the shelf before. I'd think it's up to the judge to decide whether a nickname falls in the category of likeness or whatever. If I were a student athlete (or a merchandise maker) I'm not sure if I'd take that risk.
