o how about this instead of 11 conferences we just make it 8 combine all, what 119 120 teams, into 8 conferences thats about 14 teams per conference
each conference has a conference championship game
each conference is placed in a region east and west or north and south heck you can call them calvin and hobbs I dont care but split them into 2
so we now have 8 teams split into 2 groups of 4 have a region playoff now we have only 2 teams left they play in the NCG

I also believe the regular season needs to be shortened. There is no reason to have that many games. Decreasing the number of games will give more time for playoffs. 342 Days ago

The problem with not involving conference champs in some way is that right now there is an SEC bias. They already don't like playing anybody tough outside of their conference bc they know that everybody gives the conference so much credit. I could see a scenario where 3 SEC teams get in over a 1 loss ACC team just bc nobody wants to give the ACC team a chance. Next thing you know, all recruits will only go to the SEC and then the rest of country's fans stop watching, leading to college football losing overall viewership. I know it's hard for southerners to believe, but you need the rest of the country to be interested also. 342 Days ago

16 team playoff is the way to go. With 16 teams, it only takes 4 weeks to crown a champion. As it is, we are relegated to watching the Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles Toilet Bowl at the beginning of December and then other subsequent horrible bowl games until we get to the meat and potatoes in January. A 16 team playoff during the month of December means you get 15 good playoff matches during the month instead of hordes of pointless bowl games. Also, a 16 team playoffs would give schools from non-AQ conferences a shot at getting a school or two in the playoffs every year. The way they are talking about forming this 4 team playoff with consideration for conference champions, it's pretty much going to give non-AQ conferences a 0% chance of ever winning the title. You thought Utah suing the BCS before was bad. This exclusion would definitely anger more non-AQ schools into teaming up and suing the NCAA on a monopoly. Screw the bowls. All their complaining of being left out if there was a playoff is holding NCAA football from being the monthlong grand spectacle it can be. 342 Days ago

I agree and sent a 40 page document to the NCAA, and all the conference Commissioners on how it will work. They talk about haveing the kids play 17 games being to much. When they get to the NFL they will play 16 every year. With 16 team playoff only two teams play 17 games, 4 teams play 16, eight teams play 15 and so on. It is the one answer to please the mass of fans, but no one wants to admit to that. 342 Days ago

I'm just glad to see some sort of improvement to the archaic way they've been doing it for years. I find it interesting that this is the hot topic, the year after the WORSE ratings for a BCS Championship game. Once it started affecting peoples money, stuff started happening. Good, that's awesome. Now the world can recognize that the SEC is the dominant conference, and people can stop crying....well that will never happen. 342 Days ago

Every format has its drawbacks; I only hope they can avoid a committee of blue ribbon fossilized former coaches whom the game passed by twenty years ago. If you have not dozed off in you barcalounger again while waiting for the prune juice to work its wonders, I am talking about you, Bobby Bowden. 343 Days ago

Once you put the human element into the top 4 being picked, you will see a lot more teams picking harder opponents and thus, it will be easier to see whom is the best at the end of the year. Right now, every conference is not fair, how could it be?
But just about every team plays 2-3 cupcakes per year so they can be undefeated or at least try. I could see it happening where say Michigan picks an SEC, ACC, ND and then a PAC 12 team, maybe at least 2 times every year. That way, if they beat those teams, and win their conference or are 2nd, they would be highly considered for a top 4 spot. I feel the SEC thinks UM isn't deserving because of their weaker conference and OoC schedule. I say, boost the OoC schedule, and you start to find out who you really are, does anyone agree? 343 Days ago

Top 4 teams. Conference affiliations don't matter. Who is the best and deserve to go matters. 343 Days ago

IT WOULD BE JUST EASIER IF THEY DID A 8 TEAM PLAYOFF THE THE TOP 8 TEAMS FROM THE BCS POLL FACE EACH OTHER LIKE LAST YEAR AFTER WEEK 15.
1.LSU vs 8.KANSAS
2.ALABAMA vs 7.BSU
3.OKLAHOMA ST vs 6.ARKANSAS
4.STANFORD vs 5.OREGAN
AND YOU COULD PUT IN THE FOUR MAJOR BOWL LIKE FIESTA, ROSE, SUGAR, AND ORANGE AND WHO EVER STANDS AFTER THE FINAL 4 WILL GET A CHANCE FOR THE NATIONAL TITLE. THATS THE BEST WAY AND NO ONE COMES OUT CRYING 343 Days ago

Have a committee made up of former judges who have no bias toward any school. Former coaches, etc. have bias and no matter what they say it would be tainted. Do away with all this B.S. and do it the right way by restructuring the whole FBS so that ALL teams are in a conference of 10 where the teams in that conference are within a certain area. Have 2 divisions and a title game. The winners of the title games meet for the championship playoffs! Real simple and no favoritism! 343 Days ago

Of course the Slow 10 wants a selection committee. When your best teams are in the second 10 every year, you need a committee to get you into a playoff. 343 Days ago

Big 10 advocated Conf Champs who are in the top six. If not then that 4 spot goes to an at large. That format would have still included Bama and LSU and favored Oregon over Stanford who they beat. Oregon's only knock was playing a tough OOC against LSU. What about that don't you southern $@%!$ get? 343 Days ago

4 not enough - will lead to much controversy! 343 Days ago

I'm a proponent of the bowls, but if they're going to do this they need to stop being stupid. Four teams are not enough. The NCAA tournament, in every other sport, takes the conference champions and then seeds the rest of the tournament with at-large bids. The NFL playoffs take, even if they're 7-9, the champion of each of the eight divisions plus four wildcards.
Translation: Take your 11 conference champions, fill the 5 remaining slots. Be done with it. Anything else is a disservice to everyone. 343 Days ago

there are not even 6 conferences that deserve a conference champ to have automatic entry, much less 11. 343 Days ago

Then why are they in Division I-A? Someone believes they belong there, be it the NCAA or the BCS or both. If winning a conference at the top level of college football isn't enough to entitle a team to a chance to compete for a national title, then why have conferences at all? 342 Days ago

There aren't many good things one can say about the NCAA. But one of them is that they know how to organize a tournament. And no matter what else happens in the formation of a playoff system, pray that the sleazoids who run the BCS are not the ones who organize a playoff. Before allowing that to happen, ALL conference commissioners and and ADs from non-BCS conferences should run to the NCAA screaming for them to step in and not allow the BCS conferences to run the show. 343 Days ago

"...there's going to be one or two teams that may be clear to everyone that they're the two best teams in the country. I think the challenge will be in comparing those teams that are Nos. 3, 4, 5 and 6..."
Maybe this is being looked at all wrong. Maybe there needs to be a legit way to determine the top 2, and to heck with the rest. Most years I do think the polls get the top 2 correct even if I disagree with the means. But last year was the prime example of where there needs to be a more transparent way of determining those top2. 343 Days ago
