Bracket Projection: Oregon

Insider Men's College Basketball, Oregon Ducks

After back-to-back 20-win seasons under second-year coach Dana Altman, most expected the Oregon Ducks to take a step back in 2012-13. That hasn't been the case. Despite a roster that includes eight first-year players, including six freshmen, Oregon has once again won 20-plus games. Can this group of "new" Ducks continue to overachieve in the NCAA tournament?

ESPN Insider has your answers, as Joe Lunardi has enlisted a team of Bracketologists to compile advanced metrics, key scouting intel and best- and worst-case tournament scenarios for all 68 teams, in order to help you make smart picks in your bracket. Plus, as Lunardi fills out his bracket, he'll give you his prediction on how each team will fare.

Lunardi's Logic

Admittedly, seeding is more art than science. But there's just no explanation for the Ducks being below the likes of Villanova, Cincinnati, Iowa State, Oklahoma, Bucknell and Belmont on the committee's true seed list. Oregon's non-league schedule was a bit soft, but the Ducks won at UNLV, won at UCLA and then stormed through the Pac-12 tournament. This Oklahoma State matchup should be a third-round game.
