Minnesota's Reggie Lynch has minor surgery on left knee

Men's College Basketball, Minnesota Golden Gophers

MINNEAPOLIS -- Minnesota center Reggie Lynch has undergone surgery on his left knee.

Coach Richard Pitino announced Friday that the operation will take Lynch about a month to recover from. That ought to give the junior enough time to be ready for the regular-season opener on Nov. 11 against Louisiana-Lafayette.

Lynch sat out last season after transferring from Illinois State. Lynch was arrested this spring on suspicion of criminal sexual conduct and suspended by the team, but he was never charged and was eventually reinstated.

The 6-foot-9 Lynch, who played at Edina High School in suburban Minneapolis, led the Missouri Valley Conference in blocked shots as both a freshman and a sophomore.
