ESPN 60 forward E.J. Montgomery commits to Auburn

ESPN 60 forward E.J. Montgomery has committed to Auburn, sources told ESPN.

Montgomery took an unofficial visit to the Tigers' campus earlier this month.

The 6-foot-10 Montverde Academy (Florida) product averaged 9.8 points and 7.3 rebounds with the Atlanta Celtics at the Adidas Summer Championships in Las Vegas this summer. He also was among the Adidas Gauntlet rebounding leaders in the spring, with 9.3 per game. Montgomery is a high-ceiling prospect with plenty of upside moving forward.

He's the latest example of Bruce Pearl continuing to reinvent Auburn recruiting since taking over the program in the spring of 2014. The Tigers have arguably the best recruiting class in 2017, with five-star center Austin Wiley joined by ESPN 100 prospects Davion Mitchell and Chuma Okeke.

In 2016, Pearl brought in five-star guard Mustapha Heron and ESPN 100 guard Jared Harper, and four-star forwards Horace Spencer and Danjel Purifoy highlighted the 2015 class.

Montgomery is the first Auburn commit for 2018.
