Columbia graduate transfer Grant Mullins has committed to California, he told ESPN.

Mullins, a 6-foot-3 point guard, had also been a primary transfer target for Syracuse and Michigan. Mullins took visits to all three of his finalists.

"I felt very comfortable with coach [Cuonzo] Martin, coach Tracy [Webster] and the whole coaching staff," Mullins said. "I feel like Cal is a place where I can step in and help the team have success."

The Canada native averaged 13.3 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.3 assists last season, while shooting 43.9 percent from 3-point range. Mullins received a medical redshirt for the 2014-15 season, enabling him to graduate this spring and have one year of eligibility remaining.

This is the second piece of big news that California has received in the past few days. Freshman big man Ivan Rabb decided on Sunday to remain in school for his sophomore season, and now the Golden Bears have their starting point guard for next season as well.

Mullins was considered the best immediately-eligible point guard on the transfer market and ESPN ranked him No. 7 overall among the available transfers.
