Eli Carter to transfer from Florida

Men's College Basketball, Florida Florida

Florida guard Eli Carter is expected to graduate and transfer elsewhere for his final season of eligibility, sources told ESPN.

Carter spent two seasons with the Gators after transferring from Rutgers following his sophomore season. Carter broke his right leg toward the end of the 2012-13 season at Rutgers, one that forced him to take a medical redshirt for the 2013-14 season to continue his recovery. He appeared in just seven games that season.

Carter, a 6-foot-2 guard from New Jersey, averaged 8.8 points this past season. He started 17 games for the Gators, missing several early-season games due to a sprained left foot.

Carter is the Gators' third early departure since the season ended. Michael Frazier and Chris Walker decided to enter the NBA draft. Billy Donovan will now have to rely more on a young perimeter corps of junior Kasey Hill, sophomores Chris Chiozza and Brandone Francis, and freshman KeVaughn Allen.
