Mark Tollefsen chooses Arizona over several major programs

Men's College Basketball, Arizona Wildcats, San Francisco Dons

San Francisco transfer Mark Tollefsen is headed to Arizona.

Tollefsen, a 6-foot-9 center, will be eligible immediately after graduating from San Francisco. Several high-major schools were interested in him, but he visited Arizona last weekend and saw all he needed.

"Felt like the best fit for me," Tollefsen told ESPN.com. "[It was] nice to visit campus. I really see myself there. Great to meet Coach [Sean] Miller in person, see how great of a guy he is, how great of a coach he is and how great of a person he is around his family."

Tollefsen averaged 14.0 points and 5.4 rebounds this past season, shooting 38.9 percent from 3-point range.

His commitment comes one day after Arizona lost Stanley Johnson to the NBA draft and saw Drexel transfer Damian Lee choose Louisville over the Wildcats. Earlier on Friday, though, center Kaleb Tarczewski told ESPN's Jeff Goodman he was returning to school. Tollefsen gives Miller an alternative inside, someone who can step out and knock down shots.

"They lost four of their five starters and lost all the guys that would be playing my position," Tollefsen said. "So it's definitely open for me to come in and be an important piece to the puzzle."

Arizona went 34-4 this past season, losing in the Elite Eight to Wisconsin.
