Chris Mack earns one-year extension

CINCINNATI -- Xavier coach Chris Mack got a one-year contract extension through the 2020-21 season on Wednesday after leading the Musketeers to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA tournament for the third time in his six years.

The Musketeers are 134-71 under Mack, the third-most wins by a Xavier coach. They reached the Big East tournament title game this season and the NCAA round of 16, where they lost to Arizona.

Xavier is one of nine schools that have reached the Sweet 16 at least five times in the last eight years.

The Musketeers will lose only two seniors -- point guard Dee Davis and center Matt Stainbrook -- for next season.
