Shannon Hale out for rest of season

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- Alabama forward Shannon Hale will miss the rest of the season with a foot injury.

Crimson Tide coach Anthony Grant said Monday that Hale will have surgery Friday. Alabama has two regular-season games remaining plus the SEC tournament and any other postseason games.

The 6-foot-8 Hale had averaged 8.2 points and 3.2 rebounds per game before his injury in the first half against South Carolina on Feb. 24. He is second on the team in both blocked shots and steals.

He's the second starter that Alabama has lost for the season. Guard Ricky Tarrant is out with a ruptured plantar fascia.

The Tide host Mississippi on Tuesday night and close out the regular season Saturday at Texas A&M.
