Jerod Haase gets 2-year extension

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- UAB coach Jerod Haase has received a two-year contract extension that includes a mandate against criticizing school administrators.

The University of Alabama System trustees compensation committee approved the deal Monday, which keeps his pay at $525,000 annually plus incentives. It runs through March 25, 2019.

Haase, a former Kansas player, has led the Blazers to a 39-39 record in his first two-plus seasons. He spent 13 years on Roy Williams' staffs at Kansas and North Carolina.

Under the deal, Haase agrees to "keep public statements complimentary to the administrators of the athletic program and to UAB."

UAB president Ray Watts faces a no-confidence vote from the university's Faculty Senate on Thursday following his decision to shut down the Blazers' football program in December.
