FSU's Aaron Thomas ineligible

Florida State leading scorer Aaron Thomas is ineligible for the remainder of the season, the school said Friday night.

Thomas was declared ineligible for reasons other than academics, a source with knowledge of the situation told ESPN.com's Andy Katz. The school made the ruling, not the NCAA, a source said.

The 6-foot-5 junior guard was averaging 14.8 points and 3.5 rebounds per game this season for Leonard Hamilton's Seminoles.

Thomas, who missed two games already this season due to dizziness, will be replaced by freshman Xavier Rathan-Mayes.

Rathan-Mayes scored 17 points against Nebraska during the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, and is averaging 12.3 points and 4 assists a game.

Florida State (4-4) faces Notre Dame in South Bend on Saturday.
