ACC
Coaches poll quote: "Tony Bennett finally has his guys [at UVA], and his system works. Most of his guys aren't big-time recruits, so they play with a chip on their shoulder. They return most of their team but will miss Joe Harris and his shooting."

American
Coaches poll quote: "[UConn] lost a lot more than people realize. It's almost as if they have a completely new team. The key will be how they mesh together and also whether [Ryan] Boatright wants to lead the team or just score."

America East
Coaches poll quote: "[Player of the Year] is going to come down to Jameel Warney of Stony Brook and Mark Nwakamma of Hartford. Warney is a beast at our level and Nwakamma is also a brutal matchup. I'll go with Warney, but not by much."

Atlantic Sun
Coaches poll quote: "You've got to go with Florida Gulf Coast's Brett Comer [for Player of the Year]. He was on the Sweet 16 team, so he knows how to win. He's the heart and soul of the team and just has that 'it' factor."

Atlantic 10
Coaches poll quote: "Archie Miller and Dayton are the darlings, but people have to remember that they wouldn't have even made the NCAA tourney last season if they didn't go on a run the last few weeks of the season. I'm not so sure they can duplicate the success they had last season."

Big 12
Coaches poll quote: "I've haven't seen a Scott Drew team without a star in a while. {Baylor] lost a bunch, and I'm not sure what to expect from them. They lost three of their best players in [Isaiah] Austin, [Cory] Jefferson and [Brady] Heslip. They could finish anywhere from fourth to eighth this year."

Big East
Coaches poll quote: "It's completely wide open after Villanova. St. John's has the most talent --again. But that didn't mean anything last year. Georgetown and Xavier have really good young players, and I have no clue what to think about Providence without Bryce Cotton and Marquette with Wojo [coach Steve Wojciechowski]. The only thing I know is that DePaul will finish at or near the bottom."

Big Sky
Coaches poll quote: "Weber, Sacramento State, Eastern Washington, Northern Arizona and even Northern Colorado. I think all five of those have a legitimate shot at winning it. It's completely wide open."

Big South
Coaches poll quote: "Campbell [could surprise]. It's Year 2 with Kevin McGeehan, and they will have D.J. Mason healthy. He missed a bunch of games last season, but he's really good and can be one of the better players in the league."

Big Ten
Coaches poll quote: "Tim Miles has done a great job, but I'm not sold on [Nebraska] as a lock NCAA tourney team. Who do they really have besides [Terran] Petteway? I just need to see them do it all year before I'm sold."

Big West
Coaches poll quote: "Alan Williams of Santa Barbara. It's hard to go with anyone else after what he's done the last two years. He's talented and he's gotten in better shape physically. He's clearly the favorite. else after what he's done the last two years. He's talented and he's gotten in better shape physically. He's clearly the favorite [for Player of the Year]."

CAA
Coaches poll quote: "Matt Brady [James Madison] saved his job a couple years ago by winning the league tourney, but I don't think they will be very good this year, and he's in trouble. Delaware won the league last season, but Monte Ross doesn't have much security -- and he should."

C-USA
Coaches poll quote: "It's a tough call [for Player of the Year], but I'd go with Speedy Smith over Vince Hunter. It'll go to the team that wins the league, and I think Smith is the best player on the best team. Certainly the most valuable player."

Horizon
Coaches poll quote: "I think it's Green Bay and everyone else. Keifer Sykes is that good. Even though they lost Alec Brown, those guys are a step ahead of everyone else in the league."

Ivy
Coaches poll quote: "I think [Player of the Year is] a three-man race between Harvard's Wesley Saunders, who won the award last year, Columbia's Alex Rosenberg and Yale's Justin Sears. Saunders is proven, while Rosenberg is really hard to guard and came out of nowhere. Sears is also a difficult matchup."

MAAC
Coaches poll quote: "There's no clear favorite if you ask me. Iona, Manhattan and Siena should all finish somewhere in the top four, but there's not much separation. The first-place team could have five losses, and I wouldn't be shocked at all."

MAC
Coaches poll quote: "Juice Brown of Toledo [will be Player of the Year]. He's the best player on the best team. He's a four-year starter and will lead the league in assists and average 15-plus points per game. He's a no-brainer."

MEAC
Coaches poll quote: "LeVelle [Moton] does a great job with [North Carolina Central]. I don't think they were the most talented team, and may not be again, but he gets those kids to play hard. I'd be surprised if he doesn't get another job after this season."

Missouri Valley
Coaches poll quote: "[Wichita State] will be good, very good, but I think they are going to really miss Cleanthony Early. He was the matchup nightmare that no one really had an answer for in our league."

Mountain West
Coaches poll quote: "I know [San Diego State] is the favorite, but I'm still not convinced. They lost their point guard -- and who will take over for [Xavier] Thames. Winston Shepard? [Freshman] Kevin Zabo? I just don't know. I think that's the key to them."

Northeast
Coaches poll quote: "It's wide open. Everyone lost significant pieces and the teams that bring everyone back weren't that good to begin with. I think there's a big gap between five and six, seven, eight, nine and 10."

Ohio Valley
Coaches poll quote: "I think we have five teams that are really good and that everyone knows, but I'd have to say UT-Martin [will surprise] because they recruited well this past spring and the coaching change may bring them a new identity."

Pac-12
Coaches poll quote: "[Oregon's] Dana Altman [is on the hot seat]. It's been a mess up there for the entire offseason. He lost three of his best players due to the rape allegations, and now he has two more kids get in trouble for shoplifting. He's a good ball coach, but I just don't know how he gets it done this year."

Patriot
Coaches poll quote: "American is the heavy favorite because they won the tourney last season and return everyone except for their big man. But teams like Army and Holy Cross have really improved."

SEC
Coaches poll quote: "Kentucky has the most talent and is the deepest team in the league and the country. I know they underachieved for most of last season, but I'd be shocked if that happened this year."

Southern
Coaches poll quote: "Wofford is the favorite for sure. They won the league last season and return everyone, but keep your eye on Chattanooga. They are really athletic and have a couple of transfers that should really help."

Southland
Coaches poll quote: "Don't sleep on Jalen West from Northwestern State. He puts up numbers, and Northwestern will be one of the top teams this year. He's so underrated."

Summit
Coaches poll quote: "I think there's a clear difference between the top echelon and the bottom this year. Don't expect teams like Western Illinois, IUPUI and South Dakota to be competitive."

Sun Belt
Coaches poll quote: "I'd be shocked if [Player of the Year] doesn't go to one of the Georgia State guys -- probably R.J. Hunter. He's just so steady and has enough around him that you can't focus on him. He shoots it so well. His teammate, Ryan Harrow, has a chance to win it also. He's probably even more valuable to them than Hunter."

SWAC
Coaches poll quote: "I'm going with Jackson State and Alcorn. Jackson State had two freshman bigs last year they can build around, and the kid Javeres Brent can really shoot the ball."

WAC
Coaches poll quote: "New Mexico State is the clear-cut favorite, but I think Seattle and Grand Canyon are on their heels. Dan Majerle has done a good job at Grand Canyon. They were third last year and brought in a couple of high-major transfers."

WCC
Coaches poll quote: "The issue that Gonzaga has had the last few years was at the 3-man spot. Now they've added an all-Pac-12-caliber guy in Byron Wesley. They are greatly improved there, and they have veteran guards with [Kevin] Pangos and [Gary] Bell. [Kyle] Wiltjer gives them a guy who can stretch the floor as a 4-man. "
