Five Kentucky players on all-SEC

Men's College Basketball, Kentucky Wildcats

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Kentucky's depth was on display when the preseason all-SEC first and second teams were unveiled on media day Wednesday. Five Wildcats filled the 10 spots.

Meanwhile, first-year Auburn coach Bruce Pearl trumpeted the depth of the conference in general, predicting the SEC will send multiple teams to the NCAA tournament.

"We're going to have five, at least five teams in the tournament this year," Pearl told ESPN.com. "At least five. ... So I'm just telling you, jump on the bandwagon now."

Aaron Harrison, the SEC preseason player of the year and the hero in Kentucky's Final Four victory over Wisconsin, topped the first team. Florida's Michael Frazier II, Arkansas' Bobby Portis, LSU's Jordan Mickey and Ole Miss' Jarvis Summers joined him.

Kentucky's Willie Cauley-Stein, Andrew Harrison (Aaron's twin brother), Alex Poythress and freshman Karl-Anthony Towns made the second team. Georgia guard Charles Mann is the only non-Kentucky player on the second team.

"It's pretty cool,'' Aaron Harrison said. "I'm just happy for my teammates. It's an honor to be picked for player of the year, I guess. But it doesn't really mean anything because we haven't played a game yet.''

Kentucky, ranked No. 1 in the preseason USA Today coaches' poll, was the unanimous No. 1 in the SEC's preseason media poll. The Wildcats have a record nine McDonald All-Americans on their 2014-15 roster.

Kentucky got all 20 first-place votes from the media panel for 280 points, with Florida just behind at 258.
