No league in the country has changed as much as the Southern Conference from last season to this one. One year after College of Charleston left for the Colonial Athletic Association, league power Davidson is off to the Atlantic 10. Elon also left for the CAA, and Appalachian State and Georgia Southern both bolted to the Sun Belt.
However, there are replacements. East Tennessee State, VMI and Mercer -- which were all members of the league in the past -- have returned, and while there won't be the power of Davidson, it should result in a fairly wide-open race for the top spot.
