Joe Castiglione to chair committee

INDIANAPOLIS -- Oklahoma athletic director Joe Castiglione will chair the NCAA Division I men's basketball committee for the 2015-16 school year.

The NCAA said Friday that Castiglione will be vice chair this year. He will work with Utah State athletic director Scott Barnes, who begins his term as chair Sept. 1.

"I have been incredibly fortunate to have served on this committee with three outstanding chairs in Jeff Hathaway [AD at Hofstra], Mike Bobinski [AD at Georgia Tech] and current chair Ron Wellman of Wake Forest," Castiglione said in a statement Friday. "Watching them lead the committee throughout the year and particularly through the selection process has been educational, and having the opportunity to work along with Scott in the coming year will serve as great preparation to fill this role."

Others on the 2014-15 committee will be Conference USA associate commissioner Judy MacLeod and seven athletic directors: LSU's Joe Alleva, North Carolina-Asheville's Janet Cone, Michigan State's Mark Hollis, BYU's Tom Holmoe, Stanford's Bernard Muir, Creighton's Bruce Rasmussen and Northeastern's Peter Roby.

Committee terms will end Aug. 31 for Wellman and Big Sky Conference Commissioner Doug Fullerton. Castiglione is entering his 17th year as AD at Oklahoma.
