Jordan Adams to return to UCLA

Men's College Basketball, UCLA Bruins

UCLA's Jordan Adams will return for his junior season, the school announced Thursday.

The Bruins have lost starting point guard Kyle Anderson and reserve guard Zach LaVine to the NBA draft, and also were in danger of losing Adams, who averaged 17.4 points this past season.

The 6-foot-5 Adams flirted with the idea of leaving before making his decision Thursday morning.

"I've had so much fun playing here at UCLA, and I'm really excited about the team we're going to have next year," Adams said in a release. "Once the season ended, my family and I began carefully weighing all of my options.

"In the end, staying at UCLA for my junior year is a win-win situation. I'm glad that I went through the process, received constructive feedback and had time to reflect on what I truly want. I love being a Bruin. I'm looking forward to getting back in the gym and the weight room to get better, and I can't wait for next season."

His return gives UCLA a chance to challenge for one of the top spots in the Pac-12 next season. The Bruins also return Norman Powell, Bryce Alford and Tony Parker, and will add Isaac Hamilton and three Top 100 big men: Kevon Looney, Thomas Welsh and Jonah Bolden.

"Obviously we are really excited to have Jordan returning to our program," coach Steve Alford said in a statement. "He has been a huge part of this team the last two years, and he will have an even greater role next season. He's going to continue to get better, and there's no doubt that he will be successful in the NBA when that day comes. It's only a matter of when, not if.

"He's the kind of guy you want in your locker room, on your team and on your court. Jordan is the total package and, again, we couldn't be more excited to have him back."
