FORT WORTH, Texas -- For TCU head coach Trent Johnson, it wasn't about the career-high 19 points his senior Devonta Abron posted Thursday night. The positive in the Horned Frogs' 90-63 win over Houston Baptist was Abron proving he is in basketball shape.
"It was nice to see Devonta play 22 minutes and show some glimpses of getting back in to basketball shape," Johnson said. "I'm not worrying about the scoring because he had a bigger size mismatch. I'm talking about being able to run the floor and get into shape."
The senior came off the bench in 28 games for the Horned Frogs (2-0) last season, averaging 2.9 points.
"I saw him out there hedging on balls and able to recover and run the floor and those kind of things," Johnson said.
Vladimir Brodziansky, a sophomore junior college transfer, and Chauncey Collins both added 13.
After receiving Big 12 newcomer of the week honors for his team-high 19-point, 10-block performance in the Horned Frogs' season opening win over Southeastern Louisiana, Brodziansky went 6 for 11 from the field, adding a team-high six rebounds and four blocks.
"He understands at one end of the floor very well. He can pass, he can catch it and he can score," Johnson said.
Anthony Odunsi had 14 points for Huskies (1-2) and Colter Lasher added 11, making 3 of 6 from 3-point range.

Sitting on a 10-6 lead, TCU put together a 22-4 run which spanned just over 12 minutes, pushing the Horned Frogs to its largest lead of the game, 32 points. Bradon Parrish hit a 3-pointer to cap the run that made it 42-10 with 2:12 left.
During the run, guard Malique Trent scored 8 of his 12 total points, which included back-to-back 3-pointers.
Three technical fouls were issued in the game, including one to Houston Baptist head coach Ron Cottrell, who followed an official on to the court during a possession to argue a call. TCU junior Karviar Shepherd and HBU junior Cody Stetler also picked up technicals in the game.

Houston Baptist: Senior guard Anthony Odunsi posted his third-straight double-digit scoring performance of the season. Odunsi posted 14 double-digit scorning games in conference play last season.
TCU: The Horned Frogs will play most of its nonconference slate at Fort Worth ISD's Wilkerson-Greines Activities Center, several miles away from its new $72 million arena that didn't quite get finished in time for the season. The Frogs will play five more home games before they get to play in the new arena Dec. 20. TCU moves to 9-0 in nonconference games at Wilkerson-Greines, including games from last season.
