GREENSBORO, N.C. -- RJ White scored 20 points with nine rebounds and three steals as the University of North Carolina Greensboro beat Chowan 76-62 on Friday night in the season opener for both teams.

White was 7 of 10 from the field and sank 5 of 8 from the line for the Spartans. Tevon Saddler had 21 points with three rebounds and led the team with five steals.

The team forced 19 Chowan turnovers and hit 77.8 percent from the line.

The Spartans jumped to a 12-4 lead early on a Nicholas Paulos 3-pointer with 13:37 left in the first half. They led 44-25 at the break.

The Braves closed to within 10 points, 64-54, on a Kyree Bethel 3 with just under six minutes to play. But the Spartans pulled away again on layups by Saddler and White and a jumper by Paulos in the final seconds for the win.
