Wizards re-sign reserve guard Marcus Thornton

WASHINGTON -- The Washington Wizards have re-signed reserve guard Marcus Thornton.

General manager Ernie Grunfeld announced the move Thursday, calling Thornton "a proven veteran who gives us experience and scoring off the bench and will add depth at the 2-guard position."

Thornton averaged 8.4 points and 2.5 rebounds in 14 games with the Wizards last season after signing as a free agent March 9 when he was waived by the Houston Rockets.

In 450 NBA games with seven teams, the 29-year-old has averaged 12.3 points and 2.8 rebounds.
