Jodie Meeks has surgery to stabilize injured foot

NBA, Orlando Magic, Detroit Pistons

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Jodie Meeks' tenure with the Magic has hit a snag before starting.

The team announced that the recently acquired guard underwent surgery on Tuesday to stabilize the fifth metatarsal in his right foot. Meeks, acquired in a trade with the Detroit Pistons on June 29, will be out indefinitely. His return will depend on how he responds to rehabilitation.

The procedure is on the bone Meeks broke during the second game and caused him to miss all but three games last season with the Pistons. Meeks, who passed a physical with the Magic, will provide depth at shooting guard and small forward.

He averaged 7.3 points and 1.7 rebounds last season and 11.1 points and 1.7 rebounds in 2014-15.
