Tim Duncan sits out vs. Warriors

NBA, San Antonio Spurs, Golden State Warriors

SAN ANTONIO -- Spurs star Tim Duncan was ruled out for San Antonio's 92-86 loss to Golden State.

Duncan, who turns 40 on April 25, was resting after playing back-to-back games. He had four points in 19 minutes in a 112-101 loss to the Warriors on Thursday and 21 points in 34 minutes in Friday's 102-98 loss at Denver.

The loss was the Spurs' first at home this season, while the Warriors with their win matched the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls' record of 72 victories in a regular season. Golden State will try to win a record-setting 73rd game at home Wednesday night against Memphis.

San Antonio was also without Boris Diaw, who has a sore muscle on his right side. Coach Gregg Popovich gave David West the start Sunday night with Diaw and Duncan out.

The Warriors were resting Leandro Barbosa, but coach Steve Kerr said the rest of the roster was available.
