Nikola Pekovic out indefinitely due to Achilles rehabilitation

NBA, Minnesota Timberwolves

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota Timberwolves say Nikola Pekovic is out indefinitely as he recovers from right Achilles surgery he underwent last April.

The Timberwolves gave an update on Pekovic's condition after he missed his eighth straight game on Monday night.

The big man from Montenegro has played in just 12 games this season after a surgery that was viewed then as a last-ditch effort to relieve chronic pain in his right foot. The Wolves say the discomfort Pekovic has been experiencing is not a recurrence of the problems that have limited him so severely over the previous two years, but an expected result from surgery.

The Achilles tendon and the area addressed in the surgery are in good health. Pekovic has experienced discomfort while rehabbing.
