Spurs' Manu Ginobili out with hip tightness; to be re-evaluated Sat.

SAN ANTONIO -- The Spurs held out guard Manu Ginobili for Wednesday's 109-98 win over the Denver Nuggets and also plan to hold him out of Friday's game against the New Orleans Pelicans because of bilateral hip tightness, the club announced.

Ginobili will be re-evaluated Saturday, before a matchup at Memphis.

Ginobili, 38, sat out San Antonio's victory over the Philadelphia 76ers this past Saturday because of an adductor strain. He returned to the lineup Monday to key the team's 93-80 win over the Portland Trail Blazers by scoring 17 second-half points, including 14 in the fourth quarter.

"Going left, long step and I pulled my groin," Ginobili said, joking about the adductor injury prior to the win over Portland. "I'm so quick, so explosive, right? So my body's trying to keep up."

A 14-year veteran, Ginobili has per-game averages of 11.7 points and 3.7 assists this season while shooting 50 percent from the field and 40 percent from 3-point range in nine outings.
