Pelicans center Kendrick Perkins strains right pectoral early in loss

NBA, New Orleans Pelicans, Golden State Warriors

NEW ORLEANS -- The New Orleans Pelicans say center Kendrick Perkins strained his right pectoral muscle during Saturday night's 134-120 loss to the Golden State Warriors.

Perkins did not return to the game, finishing with two points and an assist in just 2:26.

Perkins was replaced by Omer Asik, who went scoreless with one rebound in 10 minutes. Asik's minutes were expected to be limited because he was playing for the first time this season after working his way back from a right calf strain. So Anthony Davis played some minutes at center, along with 7-foot-2 reserve Alexis Ajinca.

New Orleans was already without guards Tyreke Evans (right knee) and Norris Cole (left ankle sprain), as well as forward Quincy Pondexter (left knee), coming into the game.

Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.
