Kyle Korver to have elbow surgery to remove loose bodies

Atlanta Hawks shooting guard Kyle Korver will undergo surgery Tuesday, his second in about a month, this time to remove loose bodies in his right elbow.

Korver underwent surgery on his right ankle May 27 in New York to repair ligament damage after Cleveland Cavaliers guard Matthew Dellavedova rolled into him while the two players were pursuing a loose ball in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference finals.

The 34-year-old is still wearing a boot. He said last week that he expects to be ready by training camp, but the team said Monday that it's too early to set a timetable.

Korver also had surgery for a broken nose in March.

Korver had the most efficient season of his 12-year career in 2014-15. He was the league leader in true shooting percentage during the regular season at 69.9, a career high. He shot 49.2 percent from beyond the arc with an average of 2.9 made 3-pointers per game, trailing only Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson.

The surgery Tuesday will be performed in New York by Dr. David Altchek, who has operated on a number of professional athletes, including Cavaliers forward Kevin Love in late April. Altcheck also counts among his patients NBA forward Jabari Parker, major league pitcher Johan Santana and tennis star Maria Sharapova.
