Ranking all 80 playoff starters

NBA

A few months ago, my NFL colleagues Mike Sando and Matt Williamson put their heads together to rank the rosters of Super Bowl XLIX combatants New England and Seattle. Well, we're a few weeks away from the NBA Finals, but with the first round off and running, we figured it was a good time to provide some context to what you are watching by ranking the starters for all the teams playing in the first round.

We've offered write-ups for the top 40 and simply listed the second 40.

There is a somewhat boring segment on the methodology used to create these rankings that you can reference at the bottom of this article, but in essence it's the same process I used a while back to rank the point guards in the West. As always, feel free to agree or disagree, but please direct all inquiries and insults to my Twitter account. And remember -- my mother reads those tweets.

The rankings

1. Stephen Curry, Golden State Warriors
Base win pct.: .758 | Multiseason RPM: 8.51 | Rating: 8.83

The game's best shooter might well have become the game's best all-around player. Biggest area of growth has been on defensive end.
