Kyrie Irving (hip), Iman Shumpert (quad) sit out loss to Celtics

NBA, Cleveland Cavaliers

CLEVELAND -- Kyrie Irving was held out of the Cleveland Cavaliers' 99-90 loss to the Boston Celtics on Friday night because of a sore right hip, the team announced shortly before tipoff.

Irving participated in shootaround Friday morning despite the soreness and decided to sit out after going through pregame drills at the arena.

It was Irving's sixth missed game this season. He is averaging 22.0 points on 46.7 percent shooting, 5.2 assists, 1.5 steals and is shooting a team-high 41.4 percent from 3-point range this season.

Iman Shumpert was also out of the lineup with a sore right quad after being hit in the leg in the Cavs' 104-99 win in Milwaukee against the Bucks on Wednesday.
