Cavaliers G Irving sidelined by right hip soreness

NBA, Cleveland Cavaliers, Boston Celtics

CLEVELAND -- All-Star guard Kyrie Irving has been ruled out for Cleveland's game against Boston because of a sore right hip.

Irving experienced soreness at the team's shootaround on Friday morning, and the decision was made to sit him out against the Celtics.

The Cavaliers clinched the Central Division title and the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference with Wednesday's win over Milwaukee. It had been speculated LeBron James might sit out one of Cleveland's four remaining games, but the four-time MVP said Friday morning that he would play against Boston.

Irving is averaging 22 points and 5.2 assists.

Guard Iman Shumpert is also out with a bruised right quad.
