Why the NBA's top franchises win

NBA

In the latest installment of the NBA Front Office series, Tom Penn (playing the role of GM), Chad Ford (assistant GM), Amin Elhassan (scouting director), Kevin Pelton (analytics director) and David Thorpe (senior consultant) discuss ESPN.com's FORECAST front-office rankings.

Tom Penn: Today we're looking at ESPN.com's Forecast rankings of the 30 front offices of NBA franchises. Let's discuss what we think looks right, wrong and surprising about these rankings. Remember, this ranking was based on the collective opinion of NBA people throughout ESPN, ranking 1-30 owners, general managers and coaches.

Chad Ford: The San Antonio Spurs and Golden State Warriors get the top spot because there's complete synergy between owner, GM and coach. They are all on the same page about culture, style of play, decision-making and have the correct balance between focusing both on the now and the future. To me, those two are clearly the best-run teams in the league.
