Kings rule out DeMarcus Cousins

NBA, Sacramento Kings

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Sacramento Kings center DeMarcus Cousins sat out Friday night's 107-96 loss to the San Antonio Spurs because of a sprained left ankle and bruised left hip.

The Kings said Cousins was held out of Friday night's game because of the injuries. He has also been listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against Portland. Cousins limped to half court and fell down after turning his ankle in the fourth quarter of the Kings' win over Memphis on Wednesday night. He stayed in the game and showed no ill-effects from the injury.

Sacramento has struggled mightily without its franchise big man. The Kings are 2-11 this season when Cousins sits out.

In addition, the Kings were without point guard Darren Collison for the eighth straight game Friday. Collison is scheduled to have surgery Tuesday to repair a "core muscle injury" and will be re-evaluated in three to six weeks.
