Anthony Davis out 1-2 weeks

NBA, New Orleans Pelicans

New Orleans Pelicans star forward Anthony Davis is expected to miss up to two weeks after aggravating his nagging shoulder injury in Saturday's game against the Miami Heat.

The Pelicans (28-27) announced Sunday that Davis, who underwent an MRI, has been diagnosed with a sprained right shoulder and will miss one to two weeks.

New Orleans also will be without forward Ryan Anderson, who suffered a sprained MCL in his right knee Saturday and is expected to miss two to four weeks. The team is vying for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

Davis left Saturday's game with 3:07 remaining in the first quarter, moments after he attempted a shot and made contact with Miami's Hassan Whiteside.

Davis, who missed two games earlier this month plus the All-Star Game because of the shoulder issue, immediately grimaced in pain and walked off the court while grabbing the shoulder even before play could be stopped. He initially hurt the shoulder against Chicago on Feb. 7.

Anderson was ruled out shortly before halftime after hurting his knee while jostling for a rebound.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
