Crucial decisions loom for Pistons

The Detroit Pistons are facing the streaking Cleveland Cavaliers at just the wrong time. While the Cavs have won six straight and posted the league's best offensive rating during that span, the formerly hot Pistons have dropped three of four, and their early season defensive issues have resurfaced. Worse, Detroit still is reeling from Brandon Jennings' ruptured Achilles tendon, a season-ending injury suffered Saturday in Milwaukee.

The Pistons have yet to make any kind of roster move, and D.J. Augustin's 35-point showing Sunday at Toronto was encouraging. Meanwhile, rookie Spencer Dinwiddie is holding down the backup spot behind Augustin. Coach Stan Van Gundy will likely need another body at the position, though we still don't know who that might be. In the aftermath of the Jennings news, we covered the general ramifications of the loss, but we didn't address what it might mean for free-agent-to-be Greg Monroe.
