Kobe still wants Rajon Rondo in LA

NBA, Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Mavericks, Boston Celtics

The Los Angeles Lakers missed out on a chance to acquire Rajon Rondo from the Boston Celtics last month, but Kobe Bryant isn't deterred and says he won't stop recruiting Rondo to join his team.

"No way," Bryant told the Boston Herald in Wednesday's editions. "I'm not done. I'm not stopping until he signs an extension."

Rondo, a four-time All-Star point guard, was dealt to the Dallas Mavericks, and the Mavs are confident they can lock him up when he becomes an unrestricted free agent this summer.

Bryant is especially fond of Rondo. The two were spotted having breakfast together in Boston when the Lakers visited the Celtics in early December. The players have faced off in two NBA Finals matchups, with the Celtics winning in 2008 and the Lakers winning in 2010.

Rondo played with the Celtics for eight-plus seasons after being drafted by them in 2006. After years of being involved in trade rumors, he was dealt to Dallas in December in exchange for a package of players and draft picks.
