LeBron James' No. 23 back at No. 1

NEW YORK -- LeBron James has taken the No. 23 back to the top.

James again leads the NBA's most popular jersey list, this time in his original Cleveland Cavaliers uniform that he returned to this season.

He tops the list released Monday for the fifth straight season, but it was the No. 6 of the Miami Heat the previous four. He switched back to his first number this summer when he went back to Cleveland, where he played until leaving in 2010.

It's the first time James' Cavaliers jersey topped the list since 2004, his rookie season, and the first time the Cavs have been No. 1 on the team merchandise list.

Golden State's Stephen Curry jumped five spots to No. 2 on the list, which is based on overall sales from Adidas and NBAStore.com from October to December.

Oklahoma City's Kevin Durant, the Lakers' Kobe Bryant and Chicago's Derrick Rose round out the top five. Rose and the New York Knicks' Carmelo Anthony (No. 7) both jumped seven spots since the last time the list was released in June.

The Portland Trail Blazers' Damian Lillard (No. 11) and New Orleans Pelicans' Anthony Davis (No. 15) appear on the list for the first time in their careers.

The Dallas Mavericks' Dirk Nowitzki, meanwhile, returned to the list for the first time since 2012, taking the No. 12 spot.

The Bulls are No. 2 on the team merchandise list, followed by the Warriors, Lakers and San Antonio Spurs in the top five.
