Debating the best returning players

ESPN Insider's Chad Ford and Kevin Pelton return to provide the kind of discussions that are happening in front offices around the NBA -- where scouts and statistical experts are breaking down NBA draft prospects using their "eyes, ears and numbers."

Chad Ford: Hey Kevin, the college basketball season is just around the corner, and I think it's time to restart our Ford-Pelton draft column again. As usual, the top of my Big Board is loaded with freshmen. Until they play a dozen or so games, I know we can't get a real handle on what the numbers and scouts are saying about them. So I thought we'd kick off the year by looking at four returning college players whom either scouts or the numbers are high on this year.

Rozier

Terry Rozier | G | Soph. | Louisville Cardinals

Ford Big Board ranking: No. 11
Pelton Draft Board ranking: No. 13

Ford: Rozier is the highest-ranked returning college player on my Big Board. He was, in many ways, an unlikely candidate to nab the top spot. He wasn't ranked among the elite of the elite coming out of high school, and he played a backup role behind Russ Smith and Chris Jones at Louisville last year.
