Summer League lessons

NBA

As NBA summer league play winds to a close, the urge to make sweeping assumptions about players' NBA potential based on their performances in Las Vegas and Orlando becomes overpowering. The fact of the matter is that summer league should be looked at as a lab: an experimental environment to try new moves and new roles and develop new instincts. Nothing seen here is for certain, but often improvements to a player's game get their first chance to shine in this semicompetitive situation.
