Pelicans will never be introduced at an NBA finals game, too embarrassing for the announcers to say--should have gone with barracudas, something's went terribly wrong in the naming process for sports teams, Pistol Pete's laughing his rear off!

Amazing that the "Jazz" moved to Utah, one of the few times the name has stuck with a team when it certainly needed to be changed.

Pelicans is the gayest name I've ever heard for a basketball team. Whoever changed it to this is not the sharpest tool in the shed.

New Orleans is known for Jazz, they should be the Jazz. Then make Utah change their name to something else.

Give the Jazz back to New Orleans, Hornets to Charlotte, and Lakers back to Minnesota.

Like the Mavericks are referred to as the Mavs, The Cavaliers are referred to as the Cavs, Let me be the first to shorten the Pelicans to the 'Cans.

This team will relocate in less than 5 seasons anyway. The problem didn't lie within the name of the team, its the lack of talent. Changing the name wont bring more fans to watch but maybe getting quality players will fill the stands.

I would have went with something cooler like the gaters or something. The pelicans just dont sound appealing to me. It would be $@%!$@% awsome if it were like the Cresent City Gaters. The warriors are golden state so we should use cresent city

Personally I think the name THE NEW ORLEANS HOUNDS is more fitting. Think about it the state animals are the Louisiana Black Bear( do not want because of Chicago Bears) & the Calahoula Dog( which is a HOUND) & its color is Black & Gold...maybe tan & brown...anyway the SAINTS & HOUNDS...can't you just see the DOME ROCKING TO..."WHO LET THE DOGS OUT"!!! Just imagine the SALES...WILL BE MUCH GREATER THAN WEARING A CAP OR JERSEY with Pelicans. Mr. Benson, if you do decide to go with HOUNDS....WHERE MY CHECK!!!
