Are these Valley of the Whining-Never Won Anything fans seriously getting hyped up about their perennial losing team competing for a 11th or 12th seed with their projected lineup in 2012-13? Who are they trying to fool? OJ Majo and Elton didn't want to play for a non-playoff contending team such as the Suns and kissed the ground when they knew they were playing for Dallas. Eric Gordon must have gave a huge sigh relief that could be heard all the way across the coast when his offer was matched. Every sports fan knows the Suns have always been a perennial losing team who have not made the playoffs the last 3 out of 4 years including back to back years...and this is just recently! On occassion, they catch lightning in a bottle and have a decent year or two. However, this is the same team that use to feature a short, finger licking 40 year old aging journeyman point guard that was totally incapable of playing any defense...basically a half court player. Even this overrated aging player stated after 8 agonizing and frustrating years and tired of losing to teams from Texas and California, he ultimately fled to the Los Angeles Lakers? At least he knows now he has a slight better chance of at least making the playoffs. But isn't this the same player that was ran out of Dallas by a very famous owner that was certain he was clueless and incapable of taking America's Team, The Mavericks, to a World Championship? When Jason Kidd returned to Big D, he showed Mark Cuban and his legions of fans how it was done. It is hilarious how many players leave this desert dwelling GOD forsaken abyss known as Valley of the Losers. It's not like the owner doesn't want to re-sign players but the players themselves always demand be traded or leave via free agency at the first opportunity? Why is that? Shawn Marion realized years ago he needed to come to Dallas if he ever wanted to win a NBA title. So did another future Dallas Maverick Hall of Famer, Jason Kidd. After making the playoffs for the 12 consecutive year, two Western Conference titles and two NBA FInals appearances and a World Championship to add, Mark Cuban and his brass are revamping Dallas Mavericks for another decade or two of playoff run...meshing young, athletic talent along with current and former seasoned NBA All-Stars. Plus, with all the enormous cap space money and first round draft picks, the future looks even more bright for Dallas. We all know how badly Phoenix was drooling for Elton Brand and OJ Mayo. While Dallas re-loads and plans for the future accordingly, Phoenix will continue to wallow in their pathetic and insignifcant medicrity. Most analysts now predict Dallas should be to compete, at the least, for the 3rd or 4th seed in the playoffs just with the new additions and young athletic talent obtained thru the draft. Plus, they still have the future Hall of Famer Dirk and All-NBA defensive guru Marion in their prime. As the NBA season arrives soon, these pathetic Suns need to get ready for another beat down by your Dallas Mavericks, San Antonio Spurs, Houston Rockets, Los Angelos Lakers and OKC Thunder, just take it like you always have taken it. I just feel bad for Luis Scola...he deserves alot better. At least you won't have those "no defense playing" whiffs Nash and Hill to flop for you any longer. The good news is Stern has finally wised up about all of the flopping Suns famously do year in and out. Maybe he should call it the "Nash/Hill/Phoenix rule" this coming season. It's been way overdue. 305 Days ago

this is a really good signing for Phoenix. Brown really showed up towards the end of the last season and im glad they could get him at a great price. his contract is also short just in case things change, but he's also a trade-able piece if we want to go after someone more prolific. even if we got a better SG next year, i wouldn't mind keeping Brown on in the future. hes reasonably cheap and pretty explosive. i like this a lot. 305 Days ago

Phoenix's mediocrity is good for 5th best winning percentage in NBA history. Phoenix has been to the WCF more than 90% of the league has been there in the past 8 years. Phoenix is a better franchise than 90% of the NBA, the ridiculous espn hate is ridiculous. Just wait until we have another star player, espn will immediately start trade rumors. 305 Days ago

sort of glad we missed out on Eric Gordon and OJ Mayo... this gives Shannon his chance to excel 305 Days ago

what ever happen to Shannon Brown when he was with the Lakers he was kinda good than when he left he sucks it must have been Kobe that attracted all the defender so Brown could be left open now he sucks so Kobe does make his teammates better 306 Days ago
Agent_Fields
Marion has always been good defensively, but his three point shot from the corner has been ugly forever. Odom & Brown were some of the best players for the Lakers to have off of the bench because they could hold a lead if Kobe or Pau sat for a while. Phoenix will be a good team, and watching Phoenix play Houston should be exciting. 305 Days ago

Brown had better stats with us than he did with L.A. Beside that's never the way it works with the Suns. We revive em, they leave, then become nobodies. Haven't you paid attention to basketball history? Look at Matrix? Look at Amare? You are obviously a Kobe fan, and liked your own comment... 306 Days ago

I don't dispute your argument on all fronts, certainly not. Also, I could care less about "looking right". If I always wanted to be thought of as being right believe me, I would be a band wagon fan of some team like, the Lakers. Yes, of course Marions numbers have dropped off quite a bit in some categories, I think that comes w/ age especially when so much of his game was predicated on speed. But, to say that his defense is the same or he has lost a step, that's where I disagree w/ you, and where I think we can agree to disagree, respectfully enough. But, again, if numbers are what you are driving at, the number "1" is still significant as it represents the number of rings he has w/ Dallas, as opposed to having "0" w/ the Suns. Just saying........ 305 Days ago

Look, you like Matrix, I get it. However, I watch basketball too, and to say there hasn't been a drop-off in talent is a lie. There is no evidence that his D has gotten any better, in fact it looked just the same, if not worse last time i watched him play. All i was implying, is that he has lost a step since he left us, and the numbers support me all day long. It doesn't make you right cause you throw these claims at me like "Oh, he was (Supposedly) a consideration for defensive player of the year". Numbers (Not more claims) are still supporting my claims. 305 Days ago
CerdicCellabos
Ummm, if the ultimate quest in sports is to win a Title then, saying "look at Matrix", really doesn't help your example. Yeah, I'm looking at the Matrix, and he's a Title Ring wearer now! Plus, he was in consideration for "Defensive Player of the Year", last season. So, his offensive numbers have fallen off, so what? He now concentrates on defense (which, as we all know, is what wins titles) and he has evolved his game. Meanwhile, the Suns traded him away for a washed up Shaq. And don't think this doesn't hurt to respond like this for me, I have been a Suns fan since the late 70's. 306 Days ago
