LAS VEGAS -- The NBA Board of Governors approved a new look for uniforms and a couple of changes in the use of video replay, commissioner David Stern announced Thursday night.Stern met with the media... Read full story
So, it's bad enough that I'll never make in a year what an NBA superstar makes for playing one game...it's bad enough I have to pay $120 for a ticket to see the Knicks play and from that seat I need binoculars to read their player numbers...NOW you're telling me that when I look through those same binoculars, I'm being told that "I'm in good hands with Allstate"?
Come on David...enough of the runaway greed train already. Haven't us fans put up with enough already with having to watch these overpaid, undereducated prima dona players and millionaire owners complain that they are being short changed to the point of going on strike? An NBA jersey is over $200!...a ticket is priced so high that you have to save for an entire season to see one game! The Corporate season tickets are going the way of the dodo bird if you haven't already noticed...we're all that left, us normal, working class fans.
There is a MAJOR disconnect between the fans and the players/owners that is widening every day and getting so bad, you don't even think about us as a viable voice in ANYTHING when it comes to money. All we're thought as is a bunch mindless, loyal, collateral damage who will follow our teams no matter how bad we are treated.
The day of reckoning is coming sooner than you all think...wake up NBA, NFL, NHL, and MLB before it's too late! The Gravy Train is slowing down...and before you know it, it will be at a full stop. 227 Days ago

Hey, while Stern is watching soccer for hints about how to generate on-jersey ad revenue, he should try to glean a few tips about pace of play and limiting stoppages. I mean, the fact that soccer isn't a horrible mess of nonstop timeouts and commercial breaks is why soccer jerseys have ads on them in the first place, right? 306 Days ago

Between the crazy player movement (especially away from small markets), prohibitively high ticket prices, the lockout and, now, ads on uniforms, I really just don't have the interest in the NBA I did even 5 years back.
The league needs to be aware that, despite star power, they don't have an iron lock on 'major sport' status. The money in sports comes from passionate fans that are devoted to a team, players and a uniform. 2 of those 3 are now sullied in the NBA. 308 Days ago

Not so impressed by the ads on jerseys, but more replays is a warm welcoming. Pretty simple, something that FIFA should have adopted a long time ago. Props for that, but not happy about buying a jersey with a fast food label taking up the back. 308 Days ago

Very simple.....Don't buy the jersey. 308 Days ago

I see they rapidly took this off the NBA page .... Stern whined, for sure. 308 Days ago

The NBA site main page has a poll about ads on the uni's. Go vote! Maybe, I don't really think so, but maybe someone is actually listening.

Soccer has ads because they play 45 minutes without interruption. no commercials. (45 minutes!)
there is no reason basketball needs jersey ads. they sell tons of ad space on commericials.
very disappointing there isn't more negative comments around this. this is the NBA thinking that its fan base is clueless to advertising revenue. 308 Days ago

Let's hope they listen. Because after the uni's it will be the floor & the backboards. 308 Days ago

78% say NO, thats a lot. Will the league listen? 308 Days ago

Join together as the fanbase of the NBA and don't buy a jersey with a sponsor on it.
They won't listen until you cut off the revenue stream.

The NBA jerseys will be just like the WNBA: Start off as small sponsorship patches above the team name and then eventually switch to where the sponsorship takes over the whole uniform ith a small team name patch 308 Days ago

I see a drop in jersey sells from this. I am definitely not buying a jersey with a sponsor on it that's not the league and jersey manufacturer. 308 Days ago

We live in a democracy where you vote with your DOLLAR - the food you put in your body, the entertainment you watch on your tv and the merchandise you choose to buy... or not buy. If you don't buy it, they will cease to produce it - GMO and preservative-filled food, lame reality tv shows and jerseys covered in advertising will all go away if we JUST STOP BUYING THEM. Don't be a sucka and then complain after the fact. 308 Days ago

This is basically why I quit buying NBA season tickets.
If the quality of the product isn't worth the price -- don't buy. 308 Days ago
