ARLINGTON, Texas -- The Texas Rangers activated catcher A.J. Pierzynski from the 15-day disabled list following Monday's loss to the Oakland Athletics.
Pierzynski declared himself ready to go for Tuesday's game against Oakland after the second contest of his rehab stint with Double-A Frisco.
Pierzynski, rehabbing a strained right oblique muscle, was 1-for-3 with an infield single in Monday's game for the RoughRiders against the San Antonio Missions.
"I thought today would be more of a test," Pierzynski said Monday. "It was good. I was able to do everything."
Pierzynski was able to make contact in his at-bats and felt no pain. He ran the bases fine Monday, though it did take him a while to get to first base on his infield hit in the hole at shortstop in the first inning.
"When he hit it, I didn't think [the shortstop] was going to get to it," Pierzynski said.
Pierzynski is batting .263 with four home runs and 11 RBIs. He was slumping when he was placed on the DL, striking out four times against Boston in his final game on May 5.
To open a roster spot for Pierzynski, the Rangers optioned pitcher Josh Lindblom to Triple-A Round Rock. Lindblom made his first career start Monday against Oakland, allowing four runs in 4 2/3 innings to record the loss.
Lindblom remains a candidate to start one of the two games in Monday's doubleheader at Arizona. The 10-day rule that requires players to stay in the minor leagues once they are optioned is suspended for doubleheaders.
The Rangers made another roster move late Monday, optioning catcher Robinson Chirinos to Round Rock. Texas did not make a corresponding move.
