NEW YORK -- A mere minute after being ejected from Wednesday's game against the New York Yankees, Chicago White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen took to his Twitter account to continue the argument.
Guillen was upset that Paul Konerko was called out on strikes in the bottom of the first inning of the White Sox's 3-1 loss. Television replays appeared to show that the pitch was below Konerko's knees.
At some point during Konerko's at-bat Guillen started barking at plate umpire Todd Tichenor.
"I don't know who he is," Guillen said. "I know a few umpires and one is hurt and one is not here. One is Steve Palermo and one is Richie Garcia. I don't care what he is. The pitch before [the called third strike], they complain about it. The only thing I say is, 'Don't let those guys intimidate you.'"
When Konerko struck out on the low pitch, Guillen was at the top step of the dugout. He was apparently told by Tichenor to not step out on the field. Guillen did not take the order in stride and came onto the field.
"I ask if that pitch was a strike," Guillen said. "I think he got angry very quick. He couldn't hear what I say and that's all. When he kick me out, he has the right 100 percent."
Guillen said the words he used in Tichenor's face were definitely worthy of an ejection.
According to crew chief Gerry Davis, who met with a pool reporter, Guillen was ejected for profanity directed at an umpire while arguing balls and strikes.
Before play had even resumed, a Twitter post was sent out under Guillen's @ozzieguillen account.
"This one is going to cost me a lot of money this is patetic [sic]," the first post read.
During the bottom of the first inning, as White Sox starter Mark Buehrle was giving up a three-run home run to Robinson Cano, another tweet went out.
"Today a tough guy show up at yankee stadium," the second message read. He was presumably referring to Tichenor.
Guillen reacted harshly when asked afterward about posting Twitter messages immediately after his ejection.
"I no worry about that," Guillen said. "Let's talk about [expletive] baseball. [Expletive] tweeting."
The ejection was the first of the season for Guillen and the 26th of his career.
