Chris Davis hospitalized Sunday with illness, doesn't play Monday

NEW YORK -- Chris Davis did not play in the Baltimore Orioles' 2-1 loss to the New York Yankees on Monday night after spending Sunday night in a hospital with an illness.

The slugger got IV fluid Sunday. Manager Buck Showalter said Monday his first baseman was "pretty under the weather through this morning."

Showalter said Davis might have the same bug that affected Zach Britton and Matt Wieters at the All-Star Game, which was "about a 24-hour thing."

Davis was 0-for-4 in a 5-2 loss to Tampa Bay on Sunday and is batting .236 with 22 home runs and 58 RBIs this season. Ryan Flaherty was at first base for Baltimore and went 1-for-3 in the loss.
