Mark Teixeira to miss finale vs. Boston, CT scan on foot negative

NEW YORK -- Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira underwent a CT scan on his injured left foot Sunday, which came back negative, according to the team.

Teixeira was not in Sunday's lineup against the Boston Red Sox after he was hit in the left foot by a pitch in Saturday's game. X-rays taken after the game were also negative.

Yankees manager Joe Girardi was optimistic going into the testing, saying that Teixeira's left foot was just sore and bruised.

"He's just sore, and he'll probably be out a few days," Girardi said when asked about Teixeira following New York's 3-1 victory over Boston.

Rob Refsnyder will start in Teixeira's place on Sunday.

Teixeira, 36, is hitting just .186 this season with seven home runs and 20 RBIs in 63 games. Earlier this season, he missed three weeks due to an articular cartilage tear in his right knee.
