Diamondbacks place Chris Owings on DL, recall Zack Godley

PHOENIX -- The Arizona Diamondbacks have placed infielder-outfielder Chris Owings on the 15-day disabled list with a foot injury.

The move is retroactive to Monday. Owings had sat out the past four games with the injury, diagnosed as plantar fasciitis in his left foot. Owings is hitting .285 with two home runs and 15 RBIs. Normally a shortstop or second baseman, he had filled in as a center fielder after A.J. Pollock fractured his elbow just before the season started.

Right-hander Zack Godley was recalled from Triple-A Reno to make the start in Saturday night's game against the Miami Marlins. It was his first major league start this season.
