Alex Rodriguez, CC Sabathia set to return from DL

New York Yankees manager Joe Girardi says both Alex Rodriguez and CC Sabathia will return to action this week

Rodriguez, who went on the disabled list May 4 with a strained right hamstring, is scheduled to play Thursday night's series opener against the Athletics in Oakland.

Rodriguez took batting practice with the team in Phoenix on Monday, and Girardi said he expects him to be activated in Oakland on Thursday, the day he is eligible to come off the 15-day DL.

Rodriguez, 40, is batting .194 with five home runs and 12 RBIs in 72 at-bats.

Sabathia, 35, on the DL since May 5 with a left groin strain, is slated to start Friday night against the A's. The left-hander is 2-2 with a 3.81 ERA.
